In the music world, Yoann Lemoine is known by both his own name and as Woodkid. As Yoann he directed award winning videos for Katy Perry, Moby and Lana Del Rey, among others. Knowing this, it doesn’t come as a surprise that his musical carreer started at a video shoot for Richie Havens. It was him who gave Yoann a banjo and encouraged him to play it. It resulted in the Iron EP (2011), a dark, sinister mini-album with influences from film music, electronica, singer-songwriter, tribal music and pop music. The video for single Iron is a visual treat and it’s only fitting that visuals play an important role during his live shows. His debut album The Golden Age was released on his own label Green United Music early last year.
