“Let’s just call it ghetto-pop. We blend so many genres together, it only seems fitting” suggested Lukas Graham Forchhammer to his band. The Irish/Danish singer is totally right; his band Lukas Graham plays a combination of soul, funk, hiphop and pop that is enormously popular in their home country Denmark. The first two songs the band put out quickly became hits on YouTube with over a million views each, and their self titled debut album (2012) overtook Madonna in the charts and sold more copies than the rest of the top 10 combined. It’s a perfect foundation to introduce the rest of Europe to ghetto-pop.
