JAAKKO EINO KALEVI announced as winner of 2017 European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA)

Today in Helsinki/Finland, JAAKKO EINO KALEVI was announced as the second winner of the 2017 European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA), the European music awards for emerging artists. Kalevi was surprised at Uuden musiikin aamuvuoro by YLEX’s Anne Lainto.

Combining synth-pop, folk, funk, and psych-rock into trippy experimental pop, multi-instrumentalist Jaako Eino Kalevi developed his distinctive own brand of songwriting. Having performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag in 2014, his 2015 self-titled album arrived via Domino imprint Weird World and was greeted with universal acclaim. Over 2016, Kalevi performed live from Los Angeles and Mexico to a wide range of European countries.

Earlier, Alan Walker (no) was also announced as an EBBA winner. A total of ten EBBA winners will be announced in the upcoming weeks. The Awards Ceremony takes place on January 11th in Groningen, as part of the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival.
