A feeling of nostalgia made Anders SG, Stine Bramsen, Anders B, Rasmus Nagel, Anders Reinholdt and Troels Hansen form Alphabeat in 2004. Drawing inspiration from 1980s melodic pop, they ended up with a sound that combines elements from the B-52's and Wham! into a upbeat popsound. It didn't take them long to secure a record deal with Copenhagen Records and record their first album.
Their self-titled debut album was released in 2007 and immediately was a huge succes. Their single 'Fascination' was an instant hit in Denmark. The success of their album caught the attention of labels abroad, and in 2008 the band was signed by EMI's Charisma Records. The album was renamed This Is Alphabeat and got an international release in 2008. The band also had international success, with the album reaching #10 in the UK and the single Fascination reaching the top ten in Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium.
